Our Most Precious Wards
Today Nancy told me of a news article about a woman who, worried about the pet food scare, cooks all her dog’s food from scratch. It is a lot of work since she has to insure her dog has a balanced diet including meats, fish, fruits and vegetables. In addition to the extra shopping time there is the preparation, serving, cleaning and storing. Nancy theorized that the woman does not do as much for her own children. I told Nancy that I thought the woman was justified. After all, the dog never talks back, is always happy to see you when you come home, never disappoints you (after being house broken) and appreciates everything you do for it. Nancy replied: “ Yeah but the dog can never give you grand kids.”

Now that you already have the grand kids, you got yourself a dog, right?
We don't have a dog and never will. We like dogs and cats as long as they belong to other people. We appreciate that other people are willing to endure the effort, inconvenience and expense of maintaining their pets for our occasional enjoyment. When we are finished playing with them we go home and someone else takes care of them.
I love our dogs at home, but I don't know if we would be able to do all that extra work. But, I could see that being justified...
John, I agree with your comment, and that is exactly like grandchildren.
I can't get over what you perceive to be a dog's diet. It is remarkably like that of a humans. Can it be her dog is really a human but she thinks he is a dog? The Zoo was created for us to enjoy animals while not going to the trouble of taking care of them. I do like a Zoo, even those that have only dogs and cats.
They can give you grandpups or grandkittys. They are just furry grandchildren. Ask Duane, that's all he has.
My local Ralphs has removed ALL wet food, just in case since more and more each day is being identified. They are also refunding any wet food. Thankfully our dog has always been happy with the same boring dry food day after day for the last 7 years.
